Malaysian Number 1 Junior, Chan Tuck Soon, triumphs at British Junior Open
Chan Tuck Soon is the number 1 junior in Malaysia. He is 16 and already has numerous titles under his belt. As a junior he is well respected and is one of the great talents in Malaysian golf. He has even shot a 66 at a tender age of 12 years.
At the recent British Junior Open at the Lundin Golf Club in Scotland, conquered his first links course, battled gale force winds, bitingly cold rain and unexpected winter temperatures to finish 10th out of a field of 150 junior golfers from 70 countries. Prior to the trip to Scotland, he had to adjust his swing to hit his shots lower in preparation for the windy conditions of links golf. This training by his coach CM Chong proved to be extremely effective, helping him to achieve a very respectable finish under unfamiliar conditions. Read more of his Scottish experience here.
As an added perk for the Juniors, they got to watch and meet some of the top golfers of the world at the British Open in St Andrews.
Tuck Soon has been training for 7 years under the experienced tutelage of C M Chong, a Golf Professional Qualified from the Professional Golf College in the US. CM Chong founded True Golf Academy and has extensive experience training juniors in golf, recently held the position of the Malaysian Golf Coach for the Juniors. He has been instrumental in bringing more and more juniors into the game and inspiring them to achieve great results in Junior Golf.
